Relaxation for some is viewed as a marvelous state of being, offering respite from life’s demands. Picture moments of pure relaxation: basking in the company of grown children, carefree and content. As we age, the importance of carving out these moments becomes increasingly clear, especially for the well-being of aging adults.
Weekends often become consumed by household chores, inadvertently causing the day to slip away. It’s regrettable to realize how much time has been spent on tidying instead of savoring life’s simple pleasures – taking leisurely strolls in the park, going on family hikes or relishing the warmth of the summer sun in the backyard.
In a rushed attempt to salvage what’s left of the day, activities are hurriedly pursued, but this only leads to weariness. By day’s end, exhaustion sets in, hindering the ability to fully enjoy planned activities with loved ones.
The significance of dedicating time to relaxation has become even more apparent. We’ve heard about the numerous benefits – lowering blood pressure, improving blood flow and enhancing sleep quality. To truly cherish moments with family, it’s essential to be at our best.
This summer, adopting a new approach to time management can bring immense joy. Tackling small tasks each day after work prevents a buildup of chores by the weekend. Designating specific times for cleaning on Saturday mornings ensures responsibilities are completed. Once the tasks are done, the focus shifts to embracing togetherness by the pool, creating lasting memories.
Discovering the art of relaxation can be challenging, requiring adaptable strategies as circumstances change. For members of the health plan, our dedicated care coordinators are here for support, providing tailored plans, motivation, essential tools and lifestyle skills to overcome obstacles.
