Picking on Poor Little February

The month of February gets a bad rap. It is as if the universe said,

“OK, we’ve been able to divide all these days into equal 11 parts, but we have these extra 28 days sitting here.  Wait, I’ve found another 29th day, but it’s kind of puny, so we can only use it every four years. We need to use these extra days somewhere. Why don’t we slide them in here in the second slot of the year, make it the hardest one to spell and call it a calendar year?”

It makes sense that February is the least common month in which to be born.

You might find it interesting to know, however, that many famous people were born in February, including this writer.

For many, February is a month of waiting. February sits between the hustle and bustle of the holidays and the promise of warmer months to come in the spring.

As the calendar’s snowiest month, it can also be fraught with sniffles, coughs and fever. Those long cold days and nights can even give us the blues sometimes as we wait for warmer, sunnier days and clean sidewalks and driveways to venture out.
